In June, we hosted our first of three roundtable events with The Business Desk. Held at the Mercure York Fairfield Manor, we welcomed senior leaders from across North Yorkshire to explore what sustainable growth looks like today – not only in financial terms but in building resilience, strengthening capability and creating long-term value.
We welcomed a range of business leaders to the session including:
- Tom Woolgrove, CEO Beneden Health
- Shaun Watts, Founder/MD Chameleon Business Interiors
- Charlie Breese, MD Sylatech
- Guy Armitage, MD The York Handmade Brick Company
- Neil Crowther, MD Ardent
- Carl Morse, MD Industrial Textiles and Plastics
The roundtable focused on the practical barriers that can hold businesses back alongside the opportunities that can unlock future growth. Led by Sheryl Moore, Yorkshire Editor attendees explored key themes:
- Managing rising operational costs
- Access to finance and funding options
- Digital transformation
- AI and its business impact
- Supply chain resilience
- Skills, talent and retention
The main message that emerged from the roundtable was that Yorkshire businesses have stopped waiting for stability. Instead, they’re adapting faster than ever, growing, developing and embracing new software with a determination to keep moving forward.
