DESCRIPTION
This busy and varied client-facing role sits within our tax team and is ideal for an experienced manager with comprehensive knowledge across all aspects of corporation tax. Liaising with clients, HMRC and other key stakeholders is a central aspect of this largely autonomous role, alongside cross-departmental collaboration to advise and support our wider team on a range of projects, in particular relating to Audit and Corporate Finance.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Comprehensive technical knowledge and experience in all areas of corporation tax
- Previous experience of advisory/planning for corporate entities and their directors
- Current, clean driving licence (some travel to client sites is required).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Able to manage a busy and diverse workload and meet challenging deadlines
- High regard for client service excellence
- Problem-solver with a ‘can do’ attitude and willingness to embrace new challenges and learn new skills
- Confident communicator, able to manage client and colleague relationships at all levels
- Ability to explain complex planning/transactions to clients in a way that they can understand
- Confident in working autonomously and also in a cross-departmental advisory and collaborative capacity at all levels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing tax planning projects such as complex corporate restructuring, creation of groups and corporate finance tax due diligence
- Preparing and reviewing complex tax computations relating to large companies, groups and those requiring audit (up to £100m)
- Dealing with QIPs calculations and group tax relief
- Managing client relationships, including fee negotiation.

This busy client-facing role reports into our Head of Business Services and will suit an experienced personal tax professional who is currently working within a practice. You will manage a portfolio of clients in relation to personal tax, providing ad hoc advisory work and dealing with compliance requirements.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- An experienced personal tax professional currently working within a practice
- High level of personal tax knowledge
- ATT qualified (ideally) or qualified by experience.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Proven track record in developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Able to convey specialist knowledge in an understandable manner
- Strong team player, willing and able to share knowledge and experience with more junior colleagues
- Able to manage own workload and meet deadlines in an autonomous role
- Confident and professional in approach
- Self-motivated and resourceful with strong organisation skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing a portfolio of clients (individuals and partnerships) in relation to their personal tax returns, effectively managing client relationships
- Regularly meeting with and speaking to clients to ensure the provision of a knowledgeable and professional level of service
- Dealing with P11D benefits forms
- Dealing with HMRC queries and letters
- Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation
- Assisting in the development of less experienced colleagues, providing training/instruction where needed and reviewing the work of junior colleagues
- Providing ad hoc advice on income tax and capital gains tax forms
- Liaising with tax specialists as required.
